The origin of plush/stuffed toy

Plush toy is a doll that is made of fabric sewn together and stuffed with flexible material. Plush toys originated 

in the German Company Steiff in the late 19th century and became popular with the creation of the "teddy" bear

in the United States in 1903.  At the same time, German toy designer Richard Steiff designed a similar bear. 

                    In the 1990s, Ty Warner created the Beanie Babies, a series of animals stuffed with plastic pellets that were commonly used as collectibles.

Plush toys are made of a variety of materials. The earliest ones were made of felt, velvet or mohair and stuffed with 

straw, horsehair or wood shavings. After World War II, manufacturers began to put more synthetic materials into 

production, and in 1954, teddy bears were produced from easy-to-clean materials. Modern plush toys are usually 

made of super softboa, pile fabric and so on. Common fillings include synthetic fibers, cotton,  straw, wood silk, plastic 

pellets and beans. Manufacturers mainly sell types of stuffed toys: licensed, toys that are character toys or other licensed 

properties, or basic, toys in the shape of ordinary animals or other non-licensed themes.
